Bartolomeo at Osteria del Piano

Bartolomeo is on the second floor of a lovely restored building which used to be a rest stop along the trade route from Versilia to Modena. Care has been taken to maintain many of the original characteristics, such as the ceilings with terracotta tiles and wooden beams.
The villa is entered from a central staircase into a large room which has some armchairs, a wooden dining table and a fully equipped kitchenette on one side. The kitchenette includes gas hobs, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a twin bed. From the window there are pretty views of the mountains that surround the property. Also in the villa is a pretty bathroom with a shower. The villa has access to a private area in the garden.
The twin room can be made into a double bedroom. This must be requested when booking, if you do not request it then the rooms will be made up as described above.

Osteria del Piano is located just 500 meters from the village Pieve Fosciana, on the old trade route from Versilia to Modena. This property has now been well restored into three second floor villas, on the floors below there is the owner’s house.
In the large well maintained garden, a short distance from the main house there is a sparkling pool. From the pool and gardens you can admire the Tuscan mountains that surround you.
Osteria del Piano is ideal for groups of all ages with it’s position near several typical towns/villages, and only about 50minutes drive from Lucca. Also in the area is a large range of activities including hiking, biking, canyoning and caving.
Pool Info
The large inviting pool is situated in the lovely grounds of L’Osteria del piano, a short distance from the main house. It is surrounded by wonderful views of the Tuscan moutains.
The pool is shared between the three villas and the owner. It is furnished with comfortable chairs, sun loungers and umbrellas.
The pool is 6 x 12 meters and 1.5meters deep, it is open from May to September.
You hosts are also local guides and can help you with activities such as biking, both for the adults and children, trekking, canyoning and caving. This location is ideal to explore the Garfagnana area, allowing you to have an active holiday but also the possibility to relax in total peace by the crystal pool.
Nearest town
There is the village Pieve Fosciana about 500meters away. It has several restaurants and shops. Further away is Castelnuovo di Garfagnana which has many more restaurants and shops.

holiday and the family were absolutely brilliant. Nothing was too much
trouble for them, they insisted on accompanying us to the hospital and
stayed until our friend was released, just in case we needed any
translations.
The apartment itself was clean, well presented, the location was excellent
and great value for money. Although we had two weeks in Tuscany it wasn't
enough to properly explore the area, so we'll definitely be going again.
When we do we'll definitely be booking through to-tuscany.com.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
