Gelso 9

Gelso 9 is a lovely first floor villa, found just 3km from Cortona and within walking distance to a local pizzeria. The well restored property is ideally positioned with great access to many sights including Perugia, Siena, Florence, Arezzo and the spas of Chianchiano Terme.
The pool is located a few steps away from the villa, across a well maintained lawn dotted with trees. Near it there is a ping pong table and from the pool there are views across the grain fields to the back of the property.
Stone steps at the back of the building lead up to Gelso 9. At the top of the stairs is a little terrace from where there are pretty views of the Tuscan countryside around the Gelso property. The villa is divided into three suites. On entering there is a lounge furnished with two comfortable armchairs huddled around a decorative fireplace with a TV, and to one side 4 wicker chairs around a glass table.
To the left is the first suite is composed of two double bedrooms and a single with a open-plan living area and kitchenette. It's entered into the living area where there is a comfortable sofa, wooden dining table which seats 6, and along one wall is the kitchen unit, which has gas hobs and a fridge with freezer compartment.
Iron stairs lead up to a sturdy mezzanine floor where there is a pretty double bedroom with a wood floor and typical Tuscan ceiling with wooden beams and terracotta tiles, it is low in some places. This room can be made into a twin. It has a large wardrobe and a tiny en-suite bathroom with open shower.
From the living area to there is access to the second sleeping area of this suite. Off a small hall there is a little single bedroom ideal for children, it has an inbuilt wardrobe. Next to this is a narrow bathroom with shower. To the other side of the hall is a spacious double bedroom that looks out onto the back garden and pool area. It has a double sofa, wardrobe and chest of drawers. This double cannot be made into a twin.
Going back to the main lounge area to the right, up a couple of steps and into a small hall, there is access to the other two suites of this villa. To one side is a suite which has a small, simply furnished sitting area with comfortable sofa and TV. Off this room is the double bedroom which cannot be made into a twin. This room is furnished with a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. Completing the suite is a bathroom with shower.
The third suite has a small open plan kitchenette and living room. It's furnished with a leather sofa on one side, wooden table with chairs for 6 people and against one wall a small kitchen unit which has gas hobs and a fridge with freezer compartment. Off this room is a comfortable double bedroom that cannot be made into a twin, and a bathroom with shower.
Although there are other apartments at Gelso only one is rented at a time, so the pool and property is private to Gelso 9.
The owner will be available to assist guests when needed.
A maximum of 1 pet at a time is allowed.
Gelso 9 is not far from a road, passing cars can be heard but it is not a noisy property.
There is a laundry room on the property. And a large kitchen/dining room which has an oven, meals can be prepared here.

Pool Info
The pool is located in the garden to the back of the villa. It's position provides it with privacy from the road. It looks out across the wheat fields that surround Il Gelso. Looking back over the villa there is a view of Cortona perched on the hill beyond.
The sparkling pool is surrounded by sun-beds and umbrellas. To one side trees provide shade from the warm Tuscan sun. There is a ladder to enter the pool.
The pool is 5x8 metres and 1.7 metres deep. It is open from May to September.
Pool towels can be provided for an extra charge.

Nearest town
Cortona is about 2.5km away up a hill. Closer, about 2km away, there is the town Camucia which has a grocery shop, several restaurants and other amenities. There is also a pizzeria within walking distance of the villa.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
